White Sox Get Extra-Inning, 5-4 Win
|
Everett second baseman Bill Edmonds had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Edmonds went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, even as Chicago A (SS-A) beat the AquaSox, 5-4. Juan Nadal claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 1-1. Chicago A (SS-A) is now 7-5.
Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 22-year old right fielder Oscar de la Sancha had a chance to be the hero. Everett pitcher Manuel Maestas wanted to foil that plan. But with no outs, de la Sancha hit a sacrifice fly. The White Sox had themselves a thrilling win.
"He who laughs last laughs best," de la Sancha said, postgame.
