Indians Scratch Out 2-1 Win
|
The Spokane Indians beat the Chicago A (SS-A) White Sox, 2-1, at Ballpark of Jersey City. Starting pitcher Fred Hartsoe was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The winning pitcher was Hartsoe, now 1-1. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Chicago A (SS-A) falls to 7-6.
Chris Tate, who is tied for 7th in the NWL with a .448 on-base percentage, helped out the Spokane cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 4.
"The key for me has just been attacking the zone and hitting my spots. When I'm throwing strikes and not falling behind in counts, those are the days when I pitch really good," said Hartsoe.
