Indians Upend Braves, 6-3
|
The Spokane Indians and Atlanta (SS-A) Braves completed their game despite the inclement weather.
The Spokane Indians topped the Atlanta (SS-A) Braves, 6-3, in Northwest League action at Rocketmen Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Spokane pitcher and Oak Island, North Carolina, native Eric Perkins. Efrain Fuentes, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Bryan Tuite nailed down his 1st save.
Had Greg Milne not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Milne hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Indians.
"Eric was pounding the zone," said Spokane manager Ladgie Zotyka.
Atlanta (SS-A), at 2-12, has had a dismal start to the season.
