Volcanoes Take Tight Tangle
The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes outlasted the Spokane Indians, 6-5, in 10 innings. Omar Faz led the way, going 3-for-4 for Salem-Keizer. The win went to Reynaldo Vazquez in relief, making him now 2-0. Ben Longwell took the loss for Spokane. Mauricio Jimenez got credit for the save for Salem-Keizer. It was his 1st of the year.

Salem-Keizer used a timely hit from Rob Alvey to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Volcanoes ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"It was a test of wills," said Josh Gilmore, the Salem-Keizer skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."

Salem-Keizer sits at 8-7.
