Dust Devils Defeat Reds, 5-4
|
The Tri-City Dust Devils did just enough to secure a victory over the Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds, 5-4, at Gesa Stadium. Nobody did more than first baseman Miguel Otero. Danny Torres picked up the save, his 1st. The Dust Devils sit in third place in the East Division with a record of 9-9.
Jan Nelson went 1 for 3, while adding 2 RBI for Tri-City. The 23-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Santiago Cruz. It was his 12th RBI of the season.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Otero, "and go after the next one."
