Volcanoes Rally Late to Clip Minnesota (SS-A)
The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes picked up a win at Volcanoes Stadium, knocking off the Minnesota (SS-A) Twins, 7-6. On the mound for Salem-Keizer was right-hander Robert Valencia. He played a key role in the triumph. Salem-Keizer reliever Willie Garza picked up the win, raising his record to 1-3. Ted Colbert was tagged with the loss. Salem-Keizer is now 9-7, Minnesota (SS-A) 13-5.

The decisive blow was delivered by Dustin Pool in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off 22-year old right-handed pitcher Ted Colbert to win the game for Salem-Keizer. The home crowd went nuts.

"If we keep winning the close games," Pool said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
