Dust Devils Down Braves, 5-2
|
The Tri-City Dust Devils defeated the Atlanta (SS-A) Braves, 5-2, at Gesa Stadium. Tri-City designated hitter Greg Shutte had a superb performance. He was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. Terry Hampton, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save. After today's action, Tri-City sits at 10-10, while Atlanta (SS-A) falls to 3-17.
In the bottom of the third, Tri-City catcher Tom Schaefer had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Schaefer stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 4-2, Tri-City. For the game, he went 1-4.
"I thought we played a nice game," Shutte told the Tri-City News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
