Twins Upend AquaSox, 6-4
|
At Everett Memorial Stadium, the Everett AquaSox and Minnesota (SS-A) Twins were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Minnesota (SS-A) Twins topped the Everett AquaSox, 6-4, with youngster Juan Gomez playing a key role. Gomez went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Twins in the win. Corey Carroll, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-1. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. John Birkhimer closed it out for Minnesota (SS-A), earning his 3rd save.
Gomez had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 0-1 fastball from J.J. Rasche, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Twins a 4-2 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Gomez.
Minnesota (SS-A) manager Lorenzo Carballo was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
The win has Minnesota (SS-A) at 8-12.
