Puckett Untouchable, Tosses No-Hitter
|
The Boise Hawks relied on no-hit stuff from starter Nick Puckett to defeat the Tri-City Dust Devils, 12-0, at Memorial Stadium.
"It's quite a thrill," Puckett told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the Northwest League records, he stopped Tri-City cold and hitless, surrendering 1 walk and fanning 8 of the 27 batters he faced.
Boise manager Albert Favela was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Puckett "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
Thus far this season, Puckett has tossed 34.1 innings in 5 starts, fanned 34 batters, walked 7 and put up a 1.57 ERA with 4 wins and 1 loss.
