Boosted by the 2-hit performance of Rich Beamis the Eugene Emeralds defeated the Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds, 6-2. The Emeralds improved their record to 13-8 by beating Cincinnati (SS-A).

Eugene took a 6-2 lead on Beamis's 2nd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Jesse Power in the top of the sixth, propelled Eugene to the win.

"See ball, hit ball. When I think too much, that's when I get in trouble," Beamis told the Eugene Observer.
