Vallejo Propels Twins to 6-5 Win
|
Minnesota (SS-A) designated hitter Oscar Vallejo contributed to his team's 6-5 win over the Boise Hawks. Vallejo went 4 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Twins. Joop Steffens, 1-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Today's win puts Minnesota (SS-A) at 14-11, while Boise falls to 12-12.
Minnesota (SS-A) used the timely hitting of Russ Dye to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Twins on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Feels good to get the job done," Vallejo said after the game.
