AquaSox Defeat Volcanoes, 3-2
|
The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes got a superb performance from pitcher Matt Barnes, but the Everett AquaSox still won the game, 3-2. Barnes threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Everett reliever Mike Swift was the winner. His record is now 2-3. The losing pitcher was Alexis Herrera. The last-place AquaSox improved to 7-18.
Everett used the timely hitting of Jason Sweeney to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the AquaSox on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We found a way to get it done," Sweeney said.
