Boosted by the 3-hit performance of Pedro Mercado, who is tied for 8th in the NWL in total bases with 49, the Minnesota (SS-A) Twins defeated the Vancouver Canadians, 3-1. The win belonged to Ivan Cartagena in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Josh Shields took the loss for Vancouver. Getting the save was Nick Cotter, his 1st.

The Twins had to work out of trouble with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 3-1, Minnesota (SS-A). But Vancouver, with the bases empty, had mounted a threat. Paul Sirois dug in at the plate. But on a full count fastball, Sirois struck out.

The Twins, at 20-9, sit in first place in the North Division.
