Volcanoes Lose Late to Emeralds
The Eugene Emeralds handed the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes a loss at Volcanoes Stadium. The final score was 7-5. Emilio Amezcua made the highlight reel for Eugene. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 1 run and drove in 1. He also added 2 bases on balls. The West Division-leading Emeralds are 36-24.

Eugene used a timely hit from Eddie Wills to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Emeralds ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

Wills said the win provided a "big morale boost" for the team. "There's a good feeling in the clubhouse right now."
