Emeralds Procure 6-1 Victory
Jimmy Kaufmann was terrific for the Eugene Emeralds in his team's 6-1 triumph over the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. His performance earned Kaufmann rave reviews. Kaufmann, now 4-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 0, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. With the victory, the Emeralds upped their record to 31-28.

The Emeralds got a big at-bat from catcher Edgar Guzman. For the game, Guzman was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Eugene a 2-0 lead.

Said losing manager Brian Johnson: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
