Hillsboro got a first-rate effort from pitcher Alfonso Torres, who frustrated Boise hitters en route to a 2-0 Hops triumph at Memorial Stadium. Hillsboro reliever Adam Hallett got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Fred Souder was tagged with the loss. The third-place Hops now have a record of 8-22.

Luke Russell came through with a big-time hit for Hillsboro. The left fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 2-0. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Torres said.
