Angels Nipped, 6-5, by Cincinnati (SS-A)
|
The Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds defeated the Los Angeles A (SS-A) Angels, 6-5, in part because of second baseman Hugo Vitagliano. Vitagliano went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk for the Reds. The win went to Elijah Rouse in relief, making him now 2-2. Melvin Aguayo took the loss for Los Angeles A (SS-A). Antonio Davila, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Arturo Garnica? The 22-year old center fielder Garnica stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put Cincinnati (SS-A) up, 6-5. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.
"When their pitchers are leaving stuff over the heart of the plate, we're not missing it," said Cincinnati (SS-A) manager Kyle Macholl.
Cincinnati (SS-A) has now won 6 straight.
