The Hillsboro Hops rode a solid performance from 20-year-old starting pitcher Matt Evrard to a win, beating the Milwaukee (SS-A) Brewers, 4-2, at Ballpark of Fremont. Evrard yielded 2 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-2. Getting the save was Javier Guzman, his 3rd.

Hillsboro won the game in part because of Connor Ellsworth. The designated hitter ripped a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Hops ahead, 3-2. For the game, Ellsworth had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

Evrard told a Hillsboro Chronicle reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
