Canadians Snatch Late Win
|
The Vancouver Canadians beat the Kansas City (SS-A) Royals, 3-1. Vancouver pitcher and Anacortes, Washington, native Jim Rainey led the way. Angel Arellano, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save. Vancouver occupies second place in the West Division at 17-14.
Jason McLaughlin, the 21-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. McLaughlin contributed a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Vancouver up, 2-1.
Rainey said afterward that "winning is what it's all about."
