White Sox Drop AquaSox, 4-1
|
Steve Panossian, who is tied for 6th in the NWL with a .902 OPS, led Chicago A (SS-A) to a triumph over Everett. The final score was 4-1. The shortstop went 4 for 4, falling a triple shy of the cycle. He scored 1 run and added 2 RBI. Omar Acosta, who is tied for 10th in the NWL in wins with 3, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 1 walk and 10 strikeouts. The White Sox now have a record of 18-15 with the win over Everett.
David Shank had a big 2-run double for the White Sox in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Chicago A (SS-A) leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a circle change from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Tommy Houston and swatted a double to right. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the White Sox ahead, 4-0.
Panossian attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
