Indians Stop Twins, 6-2
|
Spokane and Minnesota (SS-A) got after it at Lancaster Grounds.
Jason Branham, who is tied for 4th in the NWL in wins with 3, was locked in. The right-hander led the Spokane Indians to a 6-2 win against the Minnesota (SS-A) Twins at Lancaster Grounds. Branham, now 3-3, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs.
Eddie Gilmore had a big solo home run for the Indians in the top of the second inning. With Spokane leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Jorge BorragAn and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Indians ahead, 2-0.
"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Branham. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."
The Indians move to 17-17 with the win, while the Twins drop to 17-18.
