6-0 Royals Win over Hops Evens Season Record
|
The Kansas City (SS-A) Royals beat the Hillsboro Hops, 6-0, at Melaleuca Field. Starting pitcher Javier Romero was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Romero got the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 1 hit and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. Romero allowed no runs. Kansas City (SS-A) is 19-19 and Hillsboro, with the loss, 26-11.
The Royals got a big at-bat from center fielder Juan Colon. For the game, Colon belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Kansas City (SS-A) a 2-0 lead.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Romero said.
