Nunez Sends Salem-Keizer Bats to Deep Freeze
|
The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes were almost helpless in their 1-0 loss to the Atlanta (SS-A) Braves and hurler Danny Nunez. Nunez kept the Volcanoes confused all game, spinning a 5-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Nunez," Salem-Keizer manager Josh Gilmore said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 24-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 10 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Nunez said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
So far this year, Nunez has a 6-1 record with a 2.48 ERA.
