Late Rally by Dust Devils Locks Up 5-3 Win
|
The Spokane Indians got a sterling performance from pitcher Eric Perkins, but the Tri-City Dust Devils still prevailed, 5-3. Perkins threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. Tri-City reliever Terry Hampton got the win, raising his record to 1-2. Bryan Tuite was tagged with the loss. The third-place Dust Devils now have a win-loss record of 21-18.
Tom Schaefer drove in one run for Tri-City. The 25-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bryan Tuite. It was his 22nd RBI of the season.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Schaefer.
