Reds Scratch Out 2-1 Win
|
Minnesota (SS-A) second baseman Danny Mera had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Mera went 3-4 with 3 singles, even as Cincinnati (SS-A) beat the Twins, 2-1. Garrett Underwood snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-2 on the season. Nick Heffernan suffered the loss. The save went to Bennie Hanson, his 8th this season.
Cincinnati (SS-A) took the lead, 2-1, on Bill Freemon's 2nd home run of the season. The solo home run came off Minnesota (SS-A) pitcher Nick Heffernan in the bottom of the seventh.
Freemon called the win "a pick-me-upper."
After today's action, Cincinnati (SS-A) sits at 21-18, while Minnesota (SS-A) falls to 24-15.
