Canadians Nip Emeralds, 3-2
|
The Vancouver Canadians took Eugene pitcher Brandon Banks's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Nat Bailey Stadium. The final score had Vancouver getting past the Emeralds, 3-2. Banks went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 10. Angel Arellano earned the save for Vancouver, his 4th. The win gives Vancouver a season record of 25-15.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Fabio Lubbers came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Eugene pitcher Jim Gamblin, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Vancouver on top, 3-2.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Lubbers said.
