AquaSox Fall to Canadians, 7-2
|
The Vancouver Canadians topped the Everett AquaSox, 7-2, in Northwest League action at Everett Memorial Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Vancouver pitcher and Portland, Oregon, native Brian Schaller. Schaller, now 4-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The win for the Canadians raised their record to 24-17.
Vancouver used a clutch at-bat from Joe Kief to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Canadians ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Schaller.
