Streaking Emeralds Win Another One, 1-0
|
Volcanoes Stadium hosted a real pitchers' duel.
Salem-Keizer pitcher Venceslau Mana gave the Emeralds all they could handle, but in the end, Eugene left Volcanoes Stadium with a win, 1-0. Mana allowed 1 run on 4 hits over 6.1 innings. Eugene reliever Vinny Pena picked up the win to move to 1-1. Venceslau Mana suffered the loss.
Eugene used the timely hitting of Justin Wolfe to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Emeralds on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Wolfe.
Eugene has now won 7 in a row.
