Hawks 6-2 Losers to Eugene
|
The Boise Hawks got a superb performance from pitcher Tony Cotto, but the Eugene Emeralds still won the game, 6-2. Cotto threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Eugene reliever Daniel Arteaga picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ivan de Lira was saddled with the loss. The first-place Emeralds improved to 26-17.
Jeff Mann drove in one run for Eugene. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, Mann, who is tied for 9th in the NWL in runs scored with 25, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Boise hurler Ivan de Lira, he got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run to give the Emeralds a 3-2 lead.
"We take it day by day here," said Mann, "and today was a good one for us."
