Royals Beat Braves, 6-3
|
Atlanta (SS-A) designated hitter Mike Hermans had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Hermans was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times, even as Kansas City (SS-A) beat the Braves, 6-3. Bob Carter picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-0. He struck out 10 in 5.1 innings. The save was credited to Justin Brown, his 2nd.
Kansas City (SS-A) used a well-timed hit by Victor Escobar to capture the win. The third baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Royals ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
Escobar told a Kansas City (SS-A) Herald reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The first-place Royals improved to 43-33.
