Salem-Keizer second baseman Frank Vargas played a vital role in his team's 5-2 conquest of Chicago A (SS-A). He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Salem-Keizer. Salem-Keizer reliever Justin Hamilton was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Ricky Abelaira took the loss. With the win, the Volcanoes have a record of 22-22.

Salem-Keizer took a 3-2 lead on Ed Garza's 9th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Garza hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Chicago A (SS-A) pitcher Ricky Abelaira visibly frustrated.

Salem-Keizer manager Josh Gilmore said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
