No Mercy for Canadians in 15-2 Pounding
The Kansas City (SS-A) Royals got production up and down the lineup while beating the Vancouver Canadians, 15-2. One standout was second baseman Melvin Pereira. Pereira, who is tied for 10th in the NWL in home runs with 6, was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. The winning pitcher was 27-year old right-handed pitcher David Sonnenberg. He tossed 128 pitches over 8.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits. The first-place Royals are now 30-16, the Canadians 19-26.

With Kansas City (SS-A) leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Pereira hit a changeup from Denny Gurganus for a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Royals ahead, 4-0.

"We'll need a much better effort, the next time out," said losing manager Chris Jeffreys.
