Behind a solid performance from right fielder Adrian O'Meara, the Kansas City (AZL) Royals defeated the Texas (AZL) Rangers, 5-1. O'Meara was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Royals. Frank Gutierrez got the win, improving to 2-0. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 1 run on 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1.
Kansas City (AZL) left fielder Ron Spanski helped his team get ahead early. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"You never take a win for granted in this league," said Spanski.
The loss drops Texas (AZL) to 2-4.
