San Francisco (AZL) Tacks 5-4 Loss on Kansas City (AZL)
|
The San Francisco (AZL) Giants spoiled a good performance by Kansas City (AZL) second baseman Jesus Pantoja, bumping off Kansas City (AZL), 5-4, at Scottsdale Stadium. Pantoja was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. Mario Gregoretti earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Eric Ervin was credited with the save for San Francisco (AZL), his 1st of the season.
The Giants got a big at-bat from first baseman Zack O'Bryan. For the game, O'Bryan went 2-3 with a double, while adding 3 RBI. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave San Francisco (AZL) a 3-2 lead.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said O'Bryan.
The win brings the Giants to 4-7, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
