The San Francisco (AZL) Giants and Arizona (AZL) Diamondbacks were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Arizona (AZL) Diamondbacks picked up a win at Scottsdale Stadium, knocking off the San Francisco (AZL) Giants, 4-1. Starting pitcher Steve Gallagher was a big reason why. Gallagher went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-1. Jose Gomez earned the save for Arizona (AZL), his 4th of the year.
Arizona (AZL) used a well-timed hit by Richard Alvarado to capture the win. The right fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the third inning to put the Diamondbacks ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Gallagher said afterward that he was glad to contribute to the win.
San Francisco (AZL), with the loss, is 7-5.
