The Texas (AZL) Rangers had no problem beating the Seattle (AZL) Mariners, 11-2, at Surprise Stadium. Eddie Gilmore led the way. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for Texas (AZL). Carlos Guillen picked up the win, lifting his record to 2-0 on the season. He struck out 5 and walked 3 in 5.2 innings, while yielding 1 run. Earning his 1st save of the year was Jesus Moreno.

The Rangers got a big boost from third baseman Dylan Walker who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Mariners hurler Randy Beswick. It was his 5th walk of the season and put Texas (AZL) on top, 1-0.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Seattle (AZL) manager Abramo Reineri. "We got trounced."

With the win, Texas (AZL) has a record of 12-7. Seattle (AZL) falls to 7-12.
