Athletics Earn 9-1 Win Versus Milwaukee (AZL)
Spirited fans greeted the Milwaukee (AZL) Brewers for their clash with the Oakland (AZL) Athletics.

The Oakland (AZL) Athletics beat the Milwaukee (AZL) Brewers, 9-1, at Maryvale Baseball Park. Starting pitcher Chris Scumaci was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Scumaci, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up no walks.

Sean Kretzinger had a big 2-run home run for the Athletics in the top of the fourth inning. With Oakland (AZL) leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a slider from Samuel Larkin and swatted a home run to left. It was his 8th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Athletics ahead, 3-0.

"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Oakland (AZL) manager Jon Tilghman. "That's what Chris is right now."

With the win, the Athletics sit at 15-7.
