In a low-scoring contest between the Portland Sea Dogs and the Trenton Thunder, 27-year old left-handed pitcher Brandon Bingaman proved to be the difference. The Portland left-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Sea Dogs win. The Thunder, now 6-15, continue their sluggish start.

Portland used the hitting of Malik Cooper to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Sea Dogs on top, 2-1. For the game, Cooper had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.

"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Pat Gilman. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
