5-Hit Blitz by Chicago N (AZL)'s Nunez
|
Chicago N (AZL) Cubs first baseman Jon Nunez had a day to remember at Surprise Stadium today, ripping apart the Kansas City (AZL) Royals and sparking the Cubs to a 8-4 victory.
Nunez wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Nunez told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Jon Nunez hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
This year Nunez is batting .431 with 3 home runs and 13 RBIs. In 22 games he has scored 10 times.
