Royals Stymied by White Sox, Wells
|
Kansas City (AZL) had no answer for Chicago A (AZL) White Sox starter Sam Wells, who flummoxed Royals hitters as the White Sox cruised to victory, 8-0. The third-place White Sox bumped their record to 21-13.
The standout performance belonged to 18-year-old Wells. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the White Sox. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Royals, striking out 6 and scattering 1 hit over 7 innings. Wells is now 1-0 on the season.
"Sam's stuff looked really, really crisp," said Noel Clodfelter, the White Sox manager.
