Sturm Excels, But Reds Win
The Cincinnati (AZL) Reds overcame a pretty good performance by San Francisco (AZL) second baseman Kevin Sturm, beating the Giants, 10-6, at Ed Smith Stadium. Sturm was 4-6 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Antonio Velasco was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Phil Hill. At 17-17, Cincinnati (AZL) is in first place in the Central Division.

Jake Stewart was 1-5 for Cincinnati (AZL). The 19-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring single off Phil Hill. It was his 29th hit of the season.
