Giants Drop Diamondbacks, 6-2
|
Arizona (AZL) second baseman Casey Dougherty had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-2, to San Francisco (AZL) at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. Dougherty was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. The winning pitcher was 21-year old left-handed pitcher Tyler Hayes. He tossed 71 pitches over 5.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. San Francisco (AZL) is third in the East Division with a record of 15-26.
Kellen Leto had a big run-scoring triple for the Giants in the top of the sixth inning. With San Francisco (AZL) leading 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from Bobby Heilig, who is tied for 9th in the AZL in wins with 4, and swatted a triple to right. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Giants ahead, 4-2.
"I know we have our doubters," said Arizona (AZL) manager Gabe Figueroa. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
