Royals Keep Streak Alive with Late Rally
Kansas City (AZL) and Cleveland (AZL) duked it out and the Royals came out victorious.

The Cleveland (AZL) Guardians could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Ryan DiPonio into a win. Instead, the Kansas City (AZL) Royals prevailed, 7-5. DiPonio threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Kansas City (AZL) pitcher Mike Garner earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Manny Rodriguez suffered the loss. Ray Maier got the save, the 2nd for him this season.

Kansas City (AZL) used a timely hit from Melvin Pereira to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Royals ahead, 7-5. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it made an impact.

Pereira said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."

The third-place Royals have won 4 consecutive games.
