Washington (GCL) got a terrific game from catcher Dave Ekema. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Colorado (GCL), 8-5. Ekema went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Colorado (GCL) reliever Jesus Guzman picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Andy Van Tol was tagged with the loss. The win leaves Colorado (GCL) with a record of 7-3.

The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Enrique Castillo came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Washington (GCL) pitcher Andy Van Tol, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Colorado (GCL) on top, 6-5.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Castillo.
