Blue Jays Solve Hustle, 6-2
|
Toronto (GCL) turned a good performance from starting pitcher Jose Castillo into a 6-2 triumph over the Las Vegas (GCL) Hustle at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. In 7.2 innings, Castillo surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The Blue Jays have hit the ground running, raising their record to 8-2. While it's still too soon to talk about Toronto (GCL) hoisting their 2nd Round 2 trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.
Jordan Benitez had a big 2-run double for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the first inning. With Toronto (GCL) leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Javier Villarreal and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blue Jays ahead, 3-0.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Benitez told the Toronto (GCL) Daily. "It's as simple as that."
