Orioles Losers, 7-5, Versus Detroit (GCL)
|
Despite a fine performance by third baseman Roy Baranick, the Baltimore (GCL) Orioles lost to the Detroit (GCL) Tigers, 7-5. Baranick went 3-5 with a home run, a triple, and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win went to Dan Hayes in relief, making him now 1-1. Donte Reed took the loss for Baltimore (GCL). Early on, the Tigers, at 11-2, have piled up the wins.
Detroit (GCL) used a well-timed hit by Jim Emick to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Tigers ahead, 5-3. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it was important.
"I was seeing the ball well tonight," said Emick.
