The New York N (GCL) Mets could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Ernesto Balderas into a win. Instead, the St. Louis (GCL) Cardinals prevailed, 4-1. Balderas threw 5.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Chris Rapley earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 1 run on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work. John Dunn sewed up the save, his 5th.

St. Louis (GCL) used the timely hitting of Ron Trowbridge to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cardinals on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I like how we're playing right now," said Trowbridge.
