The Washington (GCL) Nationals knocked off the Houston (GCL) Astros, 8-3, in Gulf Coast Rookie League action at Ballpark of Belvedere. Washington (GCL) pitcher and Elk Grove, California, native Steve Ludwig had an outstanding performance. The Nationals raised their record to 9-7.

Washington (GCL) got a big at-bat from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native Marcos Hernandez, who in the top of the third hit a 2-run double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Nationals ahead, 6-0.

"Steve was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Washington (GCL) manager Aaron Curry.
