Boston (GCL) Carves Out 5-3 Win
|
The rain came, as predicted, but the Boston (GCL) Red Sox and Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates were able to complete their ballgame.
The Boston (GCL) Red Sox trumped the Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates, 5-3, at Pirate City Complex. Boston (GCL) designated hitter Ernie Bennett was terrific. He went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times. Earning his 1st save for Boston (GCL) was Miguel Cardenas.
Boston (GCL) used the timely hitting of David Eppinger to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Boston (GCL) manager Edgar Pino commended his team for "bagging a nice win."
Boston (GCL) has a record of 6-11, placing them last in the South Division.
