Blue Jays Curb Nationals, 6-0
|
The Washington (GCL) Nationals got a sterling performance from pitcher Bill Van Natta, but the Toronto (GCL) Blue Jays still prevailed, 6-0. Van Natta threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball. The win puts Toronto (GCL) at 11-8 this season.
Toronto (GCL) used the clutch hitting of Joey Puente to snag the win. The center fielder drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 6-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Puente.
