Rockies Lose, 2-1, in 10
|
The Colorado (GCL) Rockies wasted an impressive 5.2-inning effort from starter Mike Calabro, falling, 2-1, to the Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates in 10 innings at Mosquitos Ballpark. Pittsburgh (GCL), at 13-10, occupies second place in the Northwest Division.
Greg Ambriz's at-bat with one out in the top of the tenth was critical. The Pittsburgh (GCL) second baseman grounded out, driving in 1 run, to put his team on top, 2-1. Runs were at a premium and this one was huge.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Colorado (GCL) manager Alex Velasquez.
