A good performance from left fielder Craig Berntsen helped the New York N (GCL) Mets defeat the Pittsburgh (GCL) Pirates, 6-2. Berntsen was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Mets. Cesar Almonte, the winner, improved to 4-0. He held the Pirates to 2 runs on 4 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 1. New York N (GCL) goes to 16-10, Pittsburgh (GCL) to 11-13.

There was more than one reason the Mets beat the Pirates, but Berntsen's big at-bat in the bottom of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 4-2 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"We had a nice day," said New York N (GCL) skipper Dave Croft.
