Another Day, Another Win for Astros
The Houston (GCL) Astros topped the New York N (GCL) Mets, 5-1, in Gulf Coast Rookie League action at Ensigns Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Houston (GCL) pitcher and Nort Salinja, Netherlands Antilles, native Elard Spierenburg. Spierenburg, now 4-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The first-place Astros now have a win-loss record of 23-4.

Houston (GCL) used a timely hit from Kang-il Kym to get the win. The pinch hitter delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Astros on top, 4-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

Spierenburg pitched well, despite being a bit under the weather. "To be honest, I was sick before the game," he said. "Just a stomach bug."
